Xbox Games with Gold August 2016 free games list: 'WWE 2K16' and 'Spelunky' among freebies

Microsoft has finally revealed the lineup of free games for the Xbox Games with Gold members for the month of August, and fans are in for a big treat.

For the whole month of August, Xbox One players subscribed to the program can download for free "Warriors Orochi 3 Ultimate," an update to the original tactical action game.

Usually priced a $60, the Xbox Games with Gold freebie for the current-generation console allows players to experience loyalty, betrayal, friendship and love as heroes clash.

Staring Aug. 16, Xbox One with the Xbox Games with Gold membership will get to experience the best of wrestling simulation in "WWE 2K16" without spending $40 for the game.

Microsoft will have the latest iteration of the 2K Sports title, which boasts the largest roster in the franchise yet, available for download for free to Xbox One Games with Gold members up to Sept. 15.

Meanwhile, from Aug. 1 to Aug. 15, Xbox 360 players that are members of the program will get to download "Spelunky" for free, saving them a good $20.

The open source indie platform video game allows players to explore the deep underground teeming with monsters and treasures with levels featuring unique challenges.

Come Aug. 16 up to the end of the month, Xbox Games with Gold Members can download "Beyond Good & Evil HD" for free.

In this award-winning action-adventure thriller, Xbox 360 players will experience the kick of being an investigative reporter as they work to uncover a government conspiracy with the help of their trusty pig pal, Pey'j.

With regards to this month's free games, "The Banner Saga 2" for the Xbox One and "Tron Evolution" for the Xbox 360 are still available for free download to members of the Xbox Games with Gold up to July 31.
