In less than a couple of months, "American Horror Story" season 6 will be airing its first episode, but until now, there is still very little that is known about the upcoming installment of the show. However, "AHS" fans may have something to look forward to next season, as per the latest update from the recent San Diego Comic-Con.

Fans have learned that there is a possibility that "Scream Queens" star Emma Roberts will be joining the eagerly awaited "AHS" season 6. The actress, who was supposed to have returned to the horror anthology series last season, hinted at the likelihood.

"I think that there might be — I was going to last season. I would love to go back and do a few episodes," the 25-year-old told the audience during the "Scream Queens" panel at Comic-Con Friday, July 22.

It is not currently known at what point the actress may appear on the series, if at all. Roberts had been too busy with her filming schedule for "Scream Queens" last year, which was the reason why she had not made it to "American Horror Story" season 5. This year, it may be the same.

Roberts joined the series' third run, "American Horror Story: Coven," playing the role of the witch Madison Montgomery. She was also part of the fourth run, "Freak Show," where she took on the role of a con artist named Maggie Esmeralda.

Meanwhile, another actress had been rumored to join "American Horror Story" season 6. Vera Farmiga, who plays the "Bates Motel" lead female character, Norma, was said to be casting her lot in with "American Horror Story." The actress is sister to "American Horror Story" star, Taissa.

Unfortunately, Farmiga's "AHS" casting rumors were shot down at Comic-Con when "Bates Motel" co-creator Carlton Cuse pointed out, "There's all these rumors she's going to go on 'American Horror Story' — no. [Her character, Norma] still exists in Norman's imagination ... we're going to see a lot of her. She's very much a character."

Angela Bassett, Lady Gaga, and Evan Peters had been previously confirmed as returning to the show, although their characters or roles have not been detailed.

It looks like fans will have to wait until "American Horror Story" returns for season 6 starting Sept. 14 on FX.
