The game "Civilization: Beyond Earth" is going to get an expansion pack titled "Rising Tide" in the fall of this year. It will be priced at $20.

The announcement was made by Firaxis and 2K Games on Monday.

The expansion pack will bring water-based gameplay to the turn-based strategy game where players have to learn to adapt to living on an alien world as they build settlements on vast bodies of water. The game allows players to use water tiles for building just as they would use land tiles.

The players face a number of challenges on how to govern captured marine territories and how to develop them into floating cities using various strategies.

After building these floating cities, players will have to collect natural resources from the sea. Since they are on an alien planet, the task will not be easy, and players will have to deal with many dangerous species of fauna with their own unique threats.

As for the hybrid Affinity units in the game, they can be unlocked by stockpiling Affinities. Players also get a chance to hunt for alien relics under the Artifact System, leading to the unlocking of special benefits.

More choices are provided players in the expansion pack and also more options for diplomacy.

The expansion pack brings four new factions into the game. One of them is the group of nomads hailing from the Middle East who go by the name of "Al Falah." This faction and the others will change how the diplomacy system in the game operates.

Firaxis revealed that Dynamic Leader Traits have also been introduced for players acting as leaders. By upgrading these traits, leaders will be able to determine the course of the game.
