'Criminal Minds' season 12 spoilers, updates: Adam Rodriguez starts filming; Upcoming season puts BAU agent in grave danger?

There is little that fans know regarding "Criminal Minds" season 12 save for the fact that Shemar Moore, who played Derek Morgan, won't be part of it anymore. In his place is Adam Rodriguez, who will be joining the team as the latest Behavioral Analysis Unit agent. However, it looks like latest spoilers hint at some major developments.

Those who follow the show would agree that the events of the past season more than likely set the tone for season 12's arc, which means the upcoming season could be one of the most dangerous seasons for the show.

Much of season 12 would apparently focus on the BAU's efforts to recapture convicted criminals who were seen escaping prison in the season 11 finale. Carter Matt noted that the BAU team members are in grave danger particularly from unknown subjects who would most likely seek revenge against them.

Nevertheless, while anyone among the current mainstays of the show could be killed off, fans know that "Criminal Minds" executives usually look for a good "out" for their characters, as is the case of Derek Morgan.

Currently, the actors who will be reprising their roles for the upcoming season include Aaron Hotchner (Thomas Gibson), Spencer Reid (Matthew Gray Gubler), David Rossi (Joe Mantegna), Jennifer Jareau (A.J. Cook), and Penelope Garcia (Kirsten Vangsness). They will be joined by Rodriguez as the new agent filling in for Derek whom Reid will have a hard time accepting into the fold, according to reports.

Executive producer Erica Messer even said through TV Line that "Criminal Minds" season 12 could see Reid slightly off-kilter because he'll have a hard time accepting his friend and colleague's departure from the BAU.
