Good news for players who purchased "Divinity: Original Sin" for the PC or Mac last year. For these players the upcoming "Divinity: Original Sin Enhanced Edition" will be offered for free. The new edition will bring the game to the Xbox One and PlayStation 4, SteamOS and Linux.

Larian Studios, the developer of the game, recently made the announcement of the upcoming enhanced edition which it said would be released by the end of this year.

The developer said the new game will include "brand-new content, a local co-op, characters voiced by AAA actors, a changed crafting system, and retooled story which will allow players to experience a new ending." Added to this will be new characters, gameplay modes and improved visuals and audio.

Larian Studios clarified that "Divinity: Original Sin Enhanced Edition" is a completely different game and not just an updated version of "Divinity: Original Sin."

It said both games will remain active for those who want to play it on the PC or Mac. Players will also see both games listed separately within their Steam Library. As for saved games, they will not be transferred from "Divinity: Original Sin" to "Divinity: Original Sin Enhanced Edition" as the two games have technical differences. The story and plot of the "Divinity: Original Sin" have also been changed extensively.

When "Divinity: Original Sin" was released last year, it quickly became a favorite in the RPG gaming community. It was praised by reviewers for allowing players to "discover how complex pieces" in the game interact and giving them the ability to make moral choices that will affect the life and death of characters in the game.

IGN, in its review, also praised the game for its combat options, which give gamers the ability to use spells and control the elements like rain.
