Many viewers of "Dragon Ball Super" almost believed that Future Trunks was successful in vanquishing the immortal god Zamasu. The merged form of Zamasu was able to possess immense power from fusing together his future self and Black Goku, who was actually Zamasu in the present timeline that possessed Goku's body. Son Goku and Vegeta then merged together and turned into Super Saiyan Blue Vegito, hoping that this would finally end Zamasu's reign of terror. However, things did not go as easy as expected.

As recapped by News Everyday, after Future Trunks sliced up Zamasu in half, the latter's immortality still shows as his remnants, a thick band of dark clouds, surrounded the whole world instead. Future Trunks, Goku and Vegeta tried to destroy Zamasu once and for all with a power blast, but this has done no damage to the enemy at all. Zamasu's dark clouds continued to destroy the future timeline, as well as the present timeline where the rest of the Z fighters live.

In desperation, Goku finally used the Zeno button and summoned the Omni King. Goku wished to make Zamasu vanquished in spite of his immortality. Instead, the Omni King erased the entire future timeline from existence, leaving Future Trunks as the only survivor. However, a better alternate timeline where everything is at peace and no one is killed by Zamasu was created by the Omni King. Finally, Future Trunks can live his life peacefully with this loved ones.

According to iTech Post, Goku will be heading to a new mission as he needed to bring back King Kai back to life after what happened in the previous episode. However, the mission will be very dangerous even for the likes of a powerful Saiyan warrior.

After the Zamasu storyline, the upcoming "DBS" episodes are expected to start the much awaited Omniverse tournament, pitting Goku against the most powerful fighters in distant universes. Game N Guide reported that the Omni King will finally greenlight the multiverse-wide tournament.
