Fans of "Fast and Furious" are in for big surprises when the upcoming installment of the franchise makes it to the theaters. Besides an array of fast, powerful and expensive cars and other vehicles making their way into the film, some major stars, returning as well as new, will also be gracing the highly anticipated movie. Diehards will be glad to find out that filming is about halfway done for "Fast and Furious 8."

Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson has already teased a mighty scene that will be making its way into the film. The action star's character, Luke Hobbs, was shown in a first photo from the film shared some days back.

It seems that Hobbs has evolved from the last time fans saw him. A bounty hunter with ties to the government, the anti-hero now seems to sport a darker side to him as he once again embraces his dangerous beginnings. The newest image of Hobbs making its way into social media was posted by the movie director F. Gary Gray.

Johnson explained this change with an earlier post on Facebook, saying, "When you strip a man of all he has ... You force him to return to his roots...and sometimes that's a very dangerous and twisted place."

As to the prison scene he teased in a video that Gray had posted last week, Johnson had this to say:

"Okay, so here we are in a jail scene on the set of 'Fast & Furious 8.' Here's the thing, in the history of cinema, there have been jail scenes, prison scenes. [But] this is the prison scene of all prison scenes."

Other stars joining the eighth installment are Helen Mirren and Scott Eastwood. Charlize Theron was also confirmed, and she will be playing the role of Cipher. Another cast addition is Kristofer Hivju, portraying Cipher's sidekick.

The actors reprising their roles are Kurt Russell as Frank Petty and Jason Statham as Deckard Shaw. The regular "Fast and Furious" stars who will be appearing are Vin Diesel as Dominic Toretto, Tyrese Gibson as Roman Pearce, Lucas Black as Sean Boswell, Michelle Rodriguez as Letty Ortiz, Chris Bridges as Tej Parker, Nathalie Emmanuel as Ramsey, and Elsa Pataky as Elena Neves.

"Fast and Furious 8" will be coming out in theaters on April 14, 2017.
