Samsung left no stone unturned when it redesigned its new flagships, the Galaxy S6 and its Edge variant. The latter turned out to be the better looking of the two. The Galaxy S6 Edge, with its dual curved edges, proved to be a showstopper in terms of design and specs and is expected to provide stiff competition to the iPhone 6 Plus.

Design

The S6 Edge has a stunning screen that curves over both is front edges and flows towards it back panel. However, the curved edges are not independent screens and instead just display notifications and a night clock. The phone's frame is rounded metal, but the front and back panels feature Gorilla Glass 4, which provides an added dimension to the color choices of white, black, gold and green. As for the iPhone 6 Plus, it has a unibody metal frame with chamfered edges and traditional bezels. Otherwise, the phablet is basically a bigger version of the iPhone 6 and is pretty slippery in hand.

Display

The S6 Edge has a Super AMOLED screen measuring 5.1 inches with a resolution of 1440 x 2560 pixels and density of 576 pixels per inch. The iPhone 6 Plus has a IPS LCD screen measuring 5.5 inches with a resolution of 1080 x 1920 pixels and density of 401 pixels per inch.

Specs

On the iPhone 6 Plus is an Apple A8 processor, dual-core 1.4 GHz Cyclone CPU and PowerVR GX6450 GPU. The S6 Edge comes with an Exynos 7420 processor, quad-core 1.5 GHz Cortex-A53 and quad-core 2.1 GHz Cortex-A57 CPU and Mali-T760 GPU.

Memory

Samsung has decided to copy the Apple iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus this time round and has not included any memory slot on the S6 Edge. As for RAM, the S6 Edge has 3 GB while the iPhone 6 Plus has 1 GB.

Camera

The iPhone 6 Plus has an 8 megapixel camera, while the S6 Edge has a 16 megapixel version. Both rear-facing cameras have optical image stabilization.

Price

Pricing for the Galaxy S6 Edge has not been released, but it is believed that its 32 GB version will cost anywhere from $800 to 850 without a contract. The 16 GB iPhone 6 Plus costs $749 without a contract.
