The appearance of Owen's (Kevin McKidd) sister, Megan (Bridget Regan) in the "Grey's Anatomy" season 13 winter finale may finally allow him and Nathan (Martin Henderson) to bury the hatchet.

The midseason finale of the season suggests that the two might no longer butt heads in the new season, as this is what he believes is what Owen's sister would want for him.

"His conscious of her tells Owen maybe he needs to let go of this resentment for Nathan, and then Owen took that step. We all know that the reducement of resentment and forgiveness are the two things that can fix relationship," McKidd explained to Variety.

"I think as we move forward, we'll start to see some thawing of Owen toward Nathan, and maybe the re-emergence of their friendship. They were best, best friends before. It's really fun to see that dynamic," he added.

When "Greys' Anatomy" season 13 returns to the small screen, Owen and Nathan may finally become as forthcoming as they were before rather than hostile with one another.

As a refresher, Megan was on Owen's mind as he went through the dilemma in the operating room. A flashback of the two working in the army also showed a bit of how they interacted before Megan met her maker.

There are still some who believe that she is still alive even though Owen is convinced she is long gone. Show creator Shonda Rhimes would not confirm or deny the rumors.

McKidd, however, hopes that he gets to work with Regan again in "Grey's Anatomy" season 13 or beyond so the show could show more of Owen's past and how he and his sister were.

Of course, Nathan is the least of the problems of Owen as he is dealing with Amelia (Caterina Scorsone) leaving him. McKidd said that although Owen will give his wife some space, he will eventually look for her to talk and work things out.

"Grey's Anatomy" season 13 returns early next year on ABC.
