Coming on the heels of the successful September 2013 release of Grand Theft Auto (GTA) 5, today's fastest selling video game, is the growing interest among captive fans on the launch of the next instalment, the GTA 6, which is rumored to take place in 2017.

It may be too early, but Rockstar, creator of the hugely popular action-filled, open world, crime and role playing GTA series, updated fans about the next location for the GTA 6, disclosing that "UK location isn't far from happening. These days I think we would love to set a game in London. I think there are plenty of great stories we could tell about the UK, great environments to showcase, great gameplay mechanics that could have a UK bent to them."

Despite this, a rumor persists that GTA 6 will take place in Vice City or Houston; gamers look to a countryside location instead of modern city life. They see Southern Texas as an exciting location. A report said it might be in an American city, possibly Chicago or New York.

On fans' wishlist of one beautiful woman as main character for GTA 6 as well as a 1970s-inspired theme, Rockstar shared that the upcoming version may have a female playable character, saying "we haven't found the right game for it yet, but it's one of the things that we always think about. It could be fantastic."

NextGen features of GTA 6 include a main character that the player will control; updated graphics; open world setting such as beach, bar, restaurant, forest, cave and wasteland; and map provision. It could surpass the success of GTA 5 which has received the Game of the Year award at the 2013 Golden Joystick Awards. GTA 5 also placed second in the IGN list of Top 25 Xbox 360 Games aside from being the largest digital release for PS3, and scoring 8/10 on Gamespot.com.

GTA started in 1997 as a basic game in 2D for PS1, gaining a lot of attraction. In 1999, three versions were launched, adding to the GTA success. In 2001, GTA 3 was launched. Rolling out in 2002 was the GTA Vice City, a milestone for developers that accounted for the popularity of the GTA games. In 2008 GTA 4 was released.
