'House of Cards' Release Date, Plot Spoilers: Netflix Series Heats Up as Claire Underwood Meets Mystery Man

NETFLIX

It's still a little over a month before the "House of Cards" returns on air on Feb. 27, and fans are even more excited after a promo video for the show was released during the 2015 Golden Globes Awards last Sunday night, right after Kevin Spacey's acceptance speech for the Best Actor in a Drama series.

Spacey plays the role of Frank Underwood in the show. He beat other nominees including James Spader, Live Schreiber, Clive Owen and Dominic West.

During his speech, Spacey was emotional, saying, "This is the eighth time I've been nominated. I cannot (expletive) believe I won."

From the new trailer, here are some things we found out so far:

Frank, the president of the United States, will be addressing his viewers to introduce the risks to his position. He says, "Do you want to know what takes real courage? Holding it all together when the stakes are this high."

In the clip, Frank tries to shake hands with a mysterious character who refuses to do the same gesture with him. The mysterious character is also seen kissing Claire (Robin Wright) in public.

Claire has been showing stone-cold composure over the past two seasons, but we will finally be seeing her witness a gruesome scene.

There will be conflict between Claire and Frank in Season 3. Aside from Claire kissing a mystery man, which Frank will obviously be angry about, it is apparent that the two will be separating ways (perhaps just for a while). In the clip, the two are seen heading off to opposite directions, which hints that they may have really parted ways. We also see them sitting on opposite sides of the car while staring out the window.

"House of Cards" is to return on Netflix this Feb. 27.
