'How To Get Away With Murder' season 4 news and spoilers: Another death surprises fans

After the dramatic midseason finale of the series "How To Get Away With Murder," many are left wondering about what lies ahead for the group.

Titled "Who's Dead," the midseason finale episode of the show revealed a shocking revelation about one of the characters. The series showed Wes, played by Alfred Enoch, dead before the fire in the house transpired.

With such a dramatic plot twist, reports state that the episodes ahead will focus more on the mystery surrounding his death. Creator of the series Pete Nowalk explained that fans will have to find out about who really killed Wes. The storyline will be picked up during the second half of the series.

Nowalk stated that there is plenty to uncover with the episodes ahead. In addition, he teased that this will bring a new kind of atmosphere into the show.

He said, "One of the things that we're going to watch is that it's very emotional for all of the characters so they're going to either kill each other or have to love each other. It changes the dynamic between every single relationship because Wes was such a centerpiece."

Nevertheless, many are still shocked about Wes' death. With that, Nowalk stated that this was something they decided in order to push the characters into more obstacles and challenges.

He said, "It's not about the shock value. It's about the story and what puts the character though hell—honestly that's what you look for...I wanted to see how [Annalise] would react to this, and it's going to be really gripping. The things that Viola gets to do now, it's just going to be really f—ed up."

"How To Get Away With Murder" season 3 is expected to return to small screens this Jan. 19.
