HTC 11 release date, specs, news: HTC teases launch of upcoming device

One of HTC's social media pages teased the release of the company's upcoming flagship phone that might be introduced into the market soon. However, the new features anticipated to be found in the HTC 11 might not mean much compared to its competitors.

According to Android Central, HTC Taiwan posted on their Facebook page a teaser that appears to be foreshadowing the release of a new HTC 11.

With HTC rumored to be releasing another flagship phone that has a sapphire screen, company president Chialin Chang confirmed that a new model will come when new CPUs are introduced in the market, Tbreak reports.

"We want to have a couple of months of leadership before the next flagship CPU comes. But that will be in another period of time – not at MWC (Mobile World Congress)," Chang said.

However, HTC's new lineup might be sidelined considering that the models' incoming features might be accessible to other mobile devices that are better in price and specs.

Forbes notes that the market for Android mobile devices has become very saturated, with a big bunch of smartphone brands competing with each other. HTC will have to fight Samsung, Huawei, Oppo, and Xiaomi in the new Android smartphone market.

Neil Mawston, a global wireless practice executive director with Strategy Analytics in the U.K., even says that even though the HTC 11 will have a name of its own, "We expect to see another rectangle with Android and various minor software upgrades."

An analyst from Market Intelligence & Consulting Institute expects that the HTC 11 will be equipped with a 5.5-inch screen, a Snapdragon 835 processor on Android 7.1, a rear 12-megapixel camera, and an 8-megapixel front camera.

Although the company is planning to release a phone that has sapphire glass, its features might be less appealing compared to its myriad of competitors.

HTC 11 is expected to be released this year.
