Huawei Mate 9 Lite release date, news, specs rumors: Light version of Mate 9 expected to be released soon

The tech enthusiasts have given positive reviews on the recently released Huawei Mate 9 handset, as well as the special version Porsche Design Huawei Mate 9. The Mate 9 is among the premium smartphones in the market today and is expected to bring in more profit for Huawei in the coming months. However, not too long after the Huawei Mate 9 reveal, the tech company has seemingly confirmed the light version of Mate 9 coming up very soon.

As reported by the Digital Trends, the Huawei Mate 9 Lite will be released in the coming months, it being a trimmed down version of the original Mate 9 handset. Even though the light version will be smaller in size, it is still expected to boast most of the original Mate 9's top of the line specs.

It is expected that the Huawei Mate 9 will boast a part glass and part aluminum casing, with back curve at the edges and two thin antenna lines. The screen display will go up to 5.5 inches with 1,920 x 1,080 screen resolution.

As for the camera features, the Mate 9 Lite will have at least 8MP front or selfie camera and a dual camera setup for the rear lens. Specifically, there will be a 12MP and 2MP dual cam setup for the Huawei Mate 9 Lite, which is watered down from the original model's 20MP and 12MP dual lens combination. However, the camera quality is still topnotch with the secondary camera serving as a depth sensor.

Furthermore, the Huawei Mate 9 Lite will be powered by a  2.1GHz octa-core Kirin 655 processor. The RAM of the handset will depend on the variant, ranging from 3GB to 4GB accompanied by 32 GB and 64GB internal storage, respectively. Unfortunately, unlike the Huawei Mate 9, the lite version will not have an expandable memory.

The small size of the Huawei Mate 9 still leaves some room for a 3,340 mAh battery, enough for a regular mobile phone user's needs throughout the day.

On the other hand, GSM Arena noted that the Huawei Mate 9's dimension will be around 150.9 x 76.2 x 8.2 mm, and the whole device is weighing 162g. Its front will sport a special fingerprint sensor, while its casing will have gold, gray, and silver color variants.
