Rumors of a fifth Indiana Jones film picked up speed when Variety accidentally mentioned in an article that Janusz Kaminski's "next project is the upcoming fifth Indiana Jones movie."

Yahoo notes that Kaminski frequently works with Steven Spielberg. He was also the director of photography in the last Indiana Jones move, The Kingdom of the Crystal Skull.

This is the latest round of rumors about the next movie in the popular franchise, after Disney bought the rights to it. Many thought that by buying the rights, Disney was signaling there would be more Indiana Jones films. The Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, which featured Harrison Ford playing Indiana Jones, did not get an overwhelmingly positive reception from critics, even though it performed well at the box office. This according to Yahoo seems to have stalled the franchise.

Earlier in March it was rumored that Bradley Cooper or Robert Pattinson would take over the role of Indiana Jones. It was also felt by many that Shia LaBeouf who played Indiana Jones' son in The Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, would naturally take on the role in future movies.

A reason for a younger actor stepping into the role of Jones is due to Ford's age. Yahoo mentions that Harrison Ford is 72 years old and had been injured on many occasions when filming the Indian Jones's movies. However, all rumors of a fifth movie and new actors playing the part of Jones were subsequently denied by Disney.

As for Harrison Ford, he stated to MTV in 2010 that he was always ready to play the part of Jones but "he doesn't think he would do it in a wheelchair".

Coming back to the recent rumor that was triggered by the Variety article published on September 30th, Variety has since amended the article and included a line "that an earlier version of this story incorrectly stated that Janusz Kaminski is working on the next Indiana Jones movie."
