iPhone 6 vs Samsung Galaxy S5 Review: Specs and Features Run-Down

null

The world's two technology giants – Apple and Samsung – are once again on a collision course as they try to win the hearts and souls of consumers with their latest smartphone models.

Apple fired the first volley with the release of its latest models, the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus. With their advanced features and latest technologies, the twin Apple models drew the raves of reviewers. They racked up impressive sales figures, selling for a combined total of 10 million units in just three days after their release.

However, celebration time at Apple's Cupertino, California headquarters may be cut short as Samsung is set to unleash its own monster gadget – the Galaxy S6.

Reviewers said the upcoming Android phone from the South Korean tech giant will include features that could match, if not eclipse, the latest Apple phones.

Based from various reviews, here is a comparison between Apple's iPhone 6 and Samsung's Galaxy S6.

Design

Just like its other smartphones, Apple's iPhone 6 has an aluminum casing and rounded edges. However, iPhone 6 is thinner than its predecessors.

On the other hand, Samsung's Galaxy S6, is said to have a metal casing similar to Galaxy Alpha, one of Samsung's recently released smartphones that have a metal body. Earlier Galaxy S models have plastic cases.

Screen Display

The iPhone 6 has a full HD resolution 4.7-inch screen panel. The Galaxy S6 will have a larger screen panel with a 4K pixel resolution. Samsung's latest smartphone will also have Super AMOLED screen at a higher resolution than the Galaxy S5.

Processor

The iPhone 6 is powered by a 64-bit A8 processor and a supporting M8 graphics co-processor. On the other hand, the Galaxy S4 will have a 64-bit Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 or 810 with an Adreno 430 graphics chip to support high resolution images and videos.

Operating System

Apple's latest operating system, the iOS 8, is at the heart of the iPhone 6. Samsung's Galaxy S6 will have Android 5.0 L at its operating system.

Internal Storage

Apple's iPhone 6 comes with storage options of 16GB, 32GB and 128GB. Samsung is expected to have bigger internal storage and an additional external storage option for its Galaxy S6.

Battery

Apple's iPhone 6 is powered by a battery that purportedly lasts up to 14 hours. But this is expected to be overshadowed the Galaxy S6 whose battery is rumored to be 30 percent more efficient than the previous Galaxy S models.

Tech experts say that although Apple and Samsung smartphones may have features similar to teach other, their makers cannot be expected to make virtually the same devices. This is because the two companies have different sales and marketing strategies. Samsung Galaxy S6 is expected to highlight its better processing power and longer battery life. On the other hand, Apple's iPhone 6 will harp on its better application ecosystem and smoother operating system.
