Now that Samsung has released the latest version of its Galaxy smartphone, attention has turned to Apple and its iPhone range. The company is rumored to be working to update its iPhone range with an iPhone 6s expected to be released sometime in September this year.

Recent rumors pointed towards Apple including 2GB RAM in the iPhone 6s along with a pre-installed SIM card which will allows users to choose between any mobile carrier and not be tied to just one.

The rumor about the 2GB RAM originated via AppleInsider which credited it to a source that had previously provided a number of credible leaks about upcoming devices from Apple. However, there is no guarantee that that is a certainty because since 2012 Apple seems to be content using just 1 GB RAM on its iPhone range. Even its first phablet-sized device, the iPhone 6 Plus, came with 1 GB RAM and it has performed well even when compared to devices with up to 3 GB RAM.

Forbes said putting more RAM on the upcoming iPhone 6s will allow the device to handle multi-tasking better, open more tabs in a browser, allow apps to work faster and even increase the performance of games.

As for the pre-installed SIM, Apple has already experimented with it on the iPad Air 2. On the iPhone 6s, the SIM will allow users to sign up for shorter plans offered by mobile carriers and effectively sidestep the two-year contract.

Also the SIM could come with support for a number of LTE bands, GSM and CDMA standards which will ensure that users can use their phone with ease even when they go overseas.

Apple is also planning to bring the Force Touch technology, which is already on its Apple Watch, to its iPhone 6s.

The company is also reportedly planning to increase the color options for the iPhone 6s..
