Kris Jenner says she wants to give families hope as she answers the question on why she sought to be a part of the two-part TV special "Keeping Up with the Kardashians: About Bruce," Part 1 of which airs this Sunday, May 17. Part 2 airs the following day on E!

In a clip from the show, Kris says "the sole reason was to show other people going through the same thing, what their family might go through, to give people hope, because we had never been through something like this before."

Kris was married to ex-Olympian Bruce Jenner for 24 years before he announced on National TV (via a 20/20 interview with Diane Sawyer) that "for all intents and purposes, I am a woman."

At this time though, Bruce is choosing not to live publicly in the media as a woman and will be referred to with male pronouns until he specifies otherwise.

The two-hour TV special will show the family's journey as they try to support Bruce through his transition.

The clip from the TV special shows Kris remembering her marriage to Bruce over home videos of the couple in their early years.

"We had so much in common, that it was kind of a match made in heaven," Kris, 59, says. "We went to races. We played golf. We went snow skiing. I mean, there wasn't anything we didn't do, and we could not keep our hands off each other."

"Kris is a really good woman, and I love her to death," Bruce, 65, says in the same clip from the special. "The love and acceptance I have gotten from Kris is absolutely overwhelming."

In a previously released clip, Kris and Bruce's 19-year-old daughter, Kendall Jenner, became emotional when discussing her father's transition. "He's the most amazing person I know. I couldn't ask for a better dad," she said. "He taught me how to ride a bike and be the tomboy that I am."

Aside from the two-part TV special that starts on Sunday, an eight-episode documentary series showing Bruce's new life as a transgender woman will debut on July 26 on E!
