This week's episode of "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit" season 18 will see Benson (Mariska Hargitay) and company up against a man who appears to be too powerful to stop.

The unit will help a woman who was drugged by a billionaire named Lawrence Hendricks Sr. to be played by "Shawshank Redemption" actor Bob Gunton.

The promo for "Law & Order: SVU" season 18, episode 9, "Decline and Fall," shows that Hendricks shows no remorse for what happened and is not worried about going to jail.

It turns out that he has been doing this since the 1970s and he has been getting away from it ever since, thanks to his wealth, power and unlimited resources.

The case that Benson and the team will handle in "Law and Order: SVU" season 18, episode 9 is expected to be just another one from his long list of crimes.

Even Benson is losing hope about winning the case, but should the man be proven guilty, heaps of charges are sure to keep him in prison for a long while.

The key to this could be a relative of his, Eric Hendricks (Ian Nelson), who appears to be the grandson of the senior Hendricks, if not his son.

"Why are you protecting him?" Benson tells Eric, who appears to be on the verge of finally giving away the secret and pushing the perpetrator to answer for his crimes, in the "Law & Order: SVU" season 18, episode 9 promo.

Whether or not Benson and the others will get him to talk remains to be seen. The unit winning the case for the victim hinges on this though as it would be almost impossible for them to pin Hendricks down with his influence and the fact that his family has taken measures to protect him and their name.

"Law & Order: SVU" season 18, episode 9, "Decline and Fall," airs Wednesday, Jan. 18, at 9 p.m. ET on NBC.
