When fans saw a guy carrying an Essex Corp briefcase grab a vial of Wolverine's (Hugh Jackman) blood in the "X-Men: Apocalypse" post-credit scene, many assumed that Nathaniel Essex aka Mister Sinister might be introduced in a future "X-Men" movie. So, when it was revealed that Dafne Keen was cast as Laura in "Logan," a lot of people theorized that Sinister might have a hand in creating her by using Wolverine's blood.

Well, fans can now say goodbye to that theory because director James Mangold has confirmed that Sinister isn't appearing in "Logan." In an interview with CinemaBlend, Mangold gave a brief explanation why the villain would not fit in the film.

He said Sinister's "kind of operatic highly-costumed, stroboscopic villainy" was "exactly the kind of thing this movie avoids." He also revealed that by avoiding the usual spectacle seen in comic book films, the film was going to be as realistic as possible.

"There's that loss, but the gain is that the movie feels extremely real and is — as one person who saw the film said to me, 'I feel like I could go down the street and run into that Wolverine.' Meaning that this is in my world, not some shiny other world. This is actually taking place in my world," he stated.

Calling the previous "Wolverine" films grounded is actually a bit of a stretch. But the trailers have already shown that "Logan" was indeed different from its predecessors and from other comic books films. It definitely has a real-world feel that Mangold was aiming for.

Well, fans will have to settle for Donald Pierce (Boyd Holbrook) and the Reavers. It appears that Zander Rice (Richard E. Grant) is also behind the Reavers, so he may be the main antagonist of the film. Meanwhile, Patrick Stewart is reprising his role as Charles Xavier, and Stephen Merchant has been cast as Caliban.

"Logan" is scheduled to premiere on March 3.
