Several years had already passed since Apple released the current version of the MacBook Air. Several Mac Air followers believe that it is probably the high time for the Cupertino-based tech giant to refresh the Mac Air series, especially that many of the current Mac Air's functionalities and design are already outdated.

With this, the Mac Air followers expected that the new version of the Apple laptop would appear this year. The last Apple hardware event last October was expected to be where the MacBook Air would be refreshed. Unfortunately, the recent Apple Event focused on the new MacBook Pro laptop instead, leaving no room for any MacBook Air announcement. This caused many tech enthusiasts to believe that Apple is already putting an end to the Mac Air series, but if the latest rumors are anything to go by, there is still hope that Apple will release the new MacBook Air version in the near future.

As reported by Game N Guide, the new MacBook Air will make its appearance in the early months of 2017. The MacBook Air 2017 is said to be released alongside the new iPad models early next year. Specifically, the much-awaited Apple Event to feature the new Mac Air is expected to happen in March. This sounds possible as the company has already hold a hardware event in March this year, where the iPhone SE and iPad Pro were showcased.

There are rumors that Apple purposedly release the thin-air MacBook Pro variant last October to permanently replace the MacBook Air. However, there is still a possibility that Apple willl still continue the production of the Mac Air laptops and release its next iteration in 2017.

One of the anticipated major improvements to be featured by the MacBook Air 2017 is the replacement of USB-A ports. The MacBook Air has not been updated for a long time, so it is likely that the 2017 Mac Air will go straight to the latest USB-C ports, according Mac Rumors. It is also expected to sport a Touch ID, as well as fingerprint sensor on its screen display for better security system. It will also sport the new Apple Pencil-enabled Track Pad, although what's actually interesting is the arrival of Apple's famous virtual assistant Siri for the first time in a MacBook laptop.
