'Maze Runner: The Death Cure' release date, plot news: O'Brien to resume filming for 'Maze Runner'

The third installment for the film adaptation series based on the American dystopian science fiction thriller novels written by James Dashner is slated to premiere in early 2018, even though it hasn't wrapped up filming. "Maze Runner 3" has yet to finish the production for the last installment of the series, which is officially titled "Maze Runner: The Death Cure," following Dylan O'Brien's recovery.

The actor has a lot of pending projects that have been put on hold since his accident on the set of "Maze Runner 3." He was injured while doing a stunt for the upcoming movie. Reports say he was nearly killed because he jumped from the top of one moving vehicle to another.

Aside from the "Maze Runner" series, O'Brien has to film for "American Assassin" and "Teen Wolf." According to reports, he is currently filming for "American Assassin," and that he is looking better. As for "Teen Wolf," the actor will only appear in a few episodes of the final season. Reports say that the development team for "Maze Runner" struck a deal with the "Teen Wolf" team, which allows the actor to film the rest of the scenes for the upcoming film. Hence, it's probably why they made Stiles, O'Brien's character in "Teen Wolf," disappear in the series.

Reports say that the 2018 premiere date gives O'Brien ample time to shoot the final scenes for "Maze Runner: Death Cure" and the final episodes for "Teen Wolf" season 6. To note, the last season of the show premiered a few weeks back. But since the actor is back in his game, he has a pretty tight schedule ahead. So far, there have been no reports suggesting when O'Brien will resume filming for "Maze Runner."

Watch out for more updates on O'Brien and "Maze Runnner: Death Cure."
