Microsoft Surface Phone release date, specs rumors 2016: Company to introduce new smartphone at IFA 2016?

While the several observers from the smartphone industry are focusing on the release of the new iPhone 7, Microsoft's Surface Phone may steal the show this month. According to the latest reports, the new handset from the American tech giant is expected to get introduced in September. The rumor started when Weibo, a chines social networking website, posted that Microsoft will reveal the new Surface Phone at the IFA 2016 event in Berlin, Germany.

Nonetheless, Enstars reported that Microsoft Surface Phone is expected to hit the market not earlier than March next year. If rumors prove to be true, the company might make a major reveal at the IFA event this year but will release the device in 2017. However, Microsoft has yet to provide significant details regarding the development and release of the Surface Phone.

Although Microsoft has continued to stay silent regarding the upcoming Surface Phone, a few leaked details coming from several tech publications hinted that the upcoming smartphone will carry a 5.7-inch screen with AMOLED display. The device is also said to support 2K display, which is currently a popular technology amongst high end handsets.

According to reports, the upcoming smartphone from Microsoft will run on a Snapdragon 830 processor from Qualcomm. However, there are speculations that the device will carry the Intel Apollo Lake processor paired with a sizable RAM.

The report says that the Surface Phone will most likely come out in three variants – the 3 GB RAM paired with 32 GB storage capacity, the 6 GB RAM paired with 128 GB storage and the whopping 8 GB paired with 500 GB onboard storage capacity.

As of the moment, fans are still waiting for the company to confirm these reports. Microsoft is expected to make an official announcement anytime soon with regard to their future releases.
