Microsoft Surface Phone rumored specs, release date, news: next flagship entry may come with Snapdragon 835, 6GB RAM

The Microsoft smartphone that is increasingly being relied on to resurrect that of the company's struggling section is now getting more and more evident as its specifications are thrown into the spotlight. As it should be, the newest iteration has been previously tipped to arrive during the first quarter of 2017.

A reliable leakster of all things Microsoft, Nokia Power User, has shared the latest sling of features of 2017's heavily rumored Microsoft Surface Phone. Accordingly, Microsoft is brewing two prototypes based on their random-access memory (RAM) tiers — a 4GB and 6GB RAM.

In addition, the leak has reported that both offerings will be equipped with an equally massive chipset, Qualcomm Snapdragon 835, which has also been pegged for the upcoming flagship smartphone from the South Korean tech giant Samsung Electronics. As such, the 6GB RAM-toting Microsoft Surface Phone may allegedly be able to run x86 apps through the purported Continuum model while the lower offering will not be able to handle the functionality.

Meanwhile, other news outlets have speculated that Microsoft could launch up to three Microsoft Surface Phones in 2017, all of which are slated to run the Windows 10 Mobile Redstone 3. The Redstone 3, compared with Redstone 2, is evidently much larger and is deemed to be the more important update than that of its predecessor.

Microsoft Surface Phone is also rumored to come with a 5.5-inch quad high-definition (QHD) display with 1,440 x 2,560 pixels. The prototypes are also expected to come with laptop-like accessories, most probably with a keyboard cover and a stylus pen. A Quick Charge v4.0, a fingerprint scanner, along with 21-megapixel (MP) rear and 8MP front-facing snappers have also been said to be parts of the inclusion.

Microsoft Surface Phone is expected to be launched on Feb. 2017.
