Microsoft might be prepping up for the release of the Surface Pro 5, based on the recent price drop of its predecessor.

The price of Surface Pro 4 is currently slashed in different parts of the world. Discounted prices first appeared in the U.K. market, when the country's Microsoft Store announced that a special coupon code can be used to cut down up to 15 percent on the device's regular price. Then the U.S. market was also offered a $100-discount on the tablet-laptop product if bought without the Surface Pen stylus. Those in Australia can also purchase the Surface Pro 4 without the stylus for a more affordable price.

If the price drop will be an indicator of the upcoming release of the next-generation of the two-in-one device, it means that the release date of the Microsoft Surface Pro 5 is just right around the corner.

Meanwhile, other reports claim that the Surface Pro 5 will feature an upgraded screen display since it will have a 4K Ultra HD resolution. This means that users will be able to play video games and watch films with better resolution.

There is also information claiming that the upcoming Microsoft Surface Pro 5 will be equipped with an Intel Core i7-7700HQ. It may also come with a Snapdragon 835 chipset upon release.

Express UK also cited a separate report claiming that Microsoft is also reportedly working on a different version of the Surface Pro 5, which could work especially with mobile devices. This may be the tech firm's way to allow tethering and hot-spot connectivity using mobile devices to make sure that users could stay online.

Other rumored specs include the possible inclusion of a better Surface Pen stylus that will come out with a wireless charging feature as well as a 16 GB of random-access memory (RAM).

Microsoft is expected to announce more details about the upcoming Surface Pro 5 in the coming days.
