'Mr. Robot' season 2 spoilers news: FBI to pursue Elliot and the rest of fsociety; new character introduced

Christian Slater as the titular character "Mr. Robot" | USA Network

In the first season of the thriller drama "Mr. Robot," Elliot Alderson (Rami Malek) was recruited by the underground hacktivist group who calls itself the fsociety. The subversive society of hackers launched an attack, dubbed as the 5/9 hack, on the multinational company Evil Corp. In the wake of this crime and the other events and circumstances surrounding it, "Mr. Robot" season 2 will be expected to go into the consequences of the attack by the secret hackers. The upcoming season is anticipated to be bigger than its predecessor as it will witness the fsociety being tackled by the Federal Bureau.

The second season of "Mr. Robot" will see the introduction of Dominique "Dom" DiPierro, an FBI agent to be portrayed by Grace Gummer. Her role will take a major part as the investigative U.S. government body will dig more deeply into the attack on the Evil Corp and will mitigate the effects of the fsociety's hack. The FBI will also try and curtail more troubles which the hacker group might be planning on creating in the future.

In an interview with The Entertainment Weekly, Gummer talked about her new character in "Mr. Robot" season 2. The actress shared that she and Elliot are "sort of connected in a way" and that she leaves it to "Mr. Robot" fans to decide on which side they will be taking. She also revealed that prior to being cast in the series, she did not even know anything about it although she disclosed that she was happy to be working again with a familiar face that is Malek. Malek and Gummer previously costarred in the romantic comedy film, "Larry Crowne."

Gummer also shared that she had a rather different manner of preparation for her FBI agent character. It turned out that she watched "The Real Housewives of New Jersey" in order for her to get into her role as Dom DiPierro who, as Gummer said, is from New Jersey.

This rather complicated relationship between the Federal agency and the fsociety will be depicted in "Mr. Robot" season 2 which will premiere on July 13 on USA Network at 10 p.m. EDT.
