"NCIS: Los Angeles" season 8 will be back on air for episode 4 on Oct. 16 after a week-long break. When it finally comes back, a new face will be taking over and filling in Kensi Blye's shoes, albeit momentarily.

CBS did not release any official statement as to why episode 4 didn't air last Sunday, but there's a strong possibility it was to give way to the televised presidential debate. At any rate, the upcoming episode of the series, which is titled "Black Market," is sure to be as exciting and action-packed as the first three episodes of the season.

Daniela Ruah, who plays Kensi, is currently on maternity leave. That will explain why her character is currently sidelined in the Intensive Care Unit, following a horrific helicopter crash that left her in a coma. Kensi's plight will force Owen Granger (Miguel Ferrer) to tap Nell Jones (Renee Felicia Smith) back to the team.

"After a Homeland Security agent is poisoned by a notorious Triad assassin, NCIS uncovers a warehouse of counterfeit purses and a money trail to stolen government funds. Also, investigative analyst Nell Jones joins the team in the field," reads the synopsis shared by Spoilers Guide.

Before her venture into the field, Nell has worked in the squad room as an intelligence analyst alongside her tech operator, Eric Beale (Barrett Foa). However, as the synopsis points, she will have her hands full trying to help the team trace the whereabouts of a Triad assassin who poisoned the Homeland Security Agent. It looks like fans are in for a treat as Nell's character is expected to get better.

Meanwhile, there are rumors that Anna Kolcheck (Bar Paly) will be back by episode 5 of the current season. It was reported back in September that love might be in the air for G. Callen (Chris O'Donnell). Throughout the series, Callen has never been romantically involved with anyone, but with Anna expected to have a wider exposure this season, love could finally blossom between the two.

Anna met Callen on a mission to save her father, Arkady Kolcheck. They already felt something towards each other back then, but it was never given the chance to bloom. With them working together again in season 8, fans are expecting their special friendship to finally develop into a romantic relationship.

"We'll push her relationship with Callen forward a bit," was executive producer R. Scott Gemmill's answer when TV Line asked him what else is in store for Anna's character this season.

"NCIS: Los Angeles" season 8 episode 4, "Black Market," airs Sunday, Oct. 16 at 8/7c on CBS.
