New Orleans Pelicans trade rumors: Pelicans may still end up losing Davis

Initially thought to be a playoff contender, the Pelicans have dropped off significantly despite the excellent play of their brightest star, Anthony Davis.

At the moment, the New Orleans Pelicans are struggling with a 6-11 record and are 12th in the Western Conference.

Davis is averaging monster numbers at 31.3 points, 10.7 rebounds and 2.1 assists per game. These numbers are way better than his averages and it appears that he is only getting better with age.

The biggest problem he is facing is that all his efforts are going down the drain as the Pelicans are unable to notch the needed wins.

Only a few seasons ago, the Pelicans edged the Oklahoma City Thunder for the last spot in the NBA Playoffs. It was a great feather on their cap and many dubbed them to be on the rise.

But right now, the Thunder look different. Still, they are doing much better than the Pelicans who are building around Davis.

While Davis has expressed his focus on winning and helping the Pelicans get back on track, rumors are circulating that a big team is eyeing to swoop him. It would be difficult to turn down an offer that would put him in a better position in the standings as well as on the marketing side of the spectrum.

Talks are linking Davis to Eastern Conference teams namely, the Cleveland Cavaliers and the Chicago Bulls.

It is slightly difficult to believe how Cleveland will manage to make room for Davis given the enormous cap they have at the moment, but shipping out a number of players may add space for Davis and give them an unbelievable squad.

As for the Bulls, they are a team with good value and great players, but they are not at the level of the elite. However, adding Davis will definitely bring them up in the discussion and seeing how the team will fare if Davis plays for Chicago is an interesting thought.
