New York Giants roster news: Giants looking for boost in safety position

Facing an unbeaten team in Week 4, the New York Giants certainly need all the help they can get.

Unfortunately, the injury bug has bitten the team hard and now find themselves looking for reliable players in very important positions on the field.

Many expected the Giants to have some problems in the cornerback position. Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie and Eli Apple are out, with the former having a groin injury, while Apple is recovering from a knock in the hamstring.

Leon Hall is playing in the team's cornerback position at the moment, but he has seen some action in the safety position as well, as the team is going through a lot of injury issues lately.

Rookie Darian Thompson was thought of as the team's future in the safety position, but an injury has sidelined him and his foot problem may see him out a few more weeks before even making a possibility of a return.

Nat Berhe was given the starting role as a replacement to Thompson, but he too is questionable as he is going through a concussion protocol with the team. He was not able to practice with the squad after complaining of headaches.

This leaves the Giants short in the safety position and it appears they are ready to give rookie Andrew Adams a spot to start against the Minnesota Vikings.

Adams will be under the limelight as he is given another chance. It may be noted that his debut — a game against the Washington Redskins — saw him commit an avoidable special-teams penalty.

All the injuries, especially in the safety position are becoming a serious concern for the Giants as they are trying to chase the top spot in the division.

At the moment, they are second in the league with a 2–1 record and they are tied with the Dallas Cowboys, while below the unbeaten Philadelphia Eagles.

With a tough schedule ahead, the Giants need to have their defense healthy and the safety and cornerback positions straightened out.
