'Red Dead Redemption 2' release date, news, updates: Take-Two Interactive promises 'Red Dead' installment with 'incredible emotional depth'

The rumors that Rockstar Games would be releasing the much-awaited sequel to 2013's "Red Dead Redemption" had been going around since last year, and it was such a huge relief when the game studio confirmed that "Red Dead Redemption 2" is finally happening. Rockstar has released the promotional banner as well as the teaser trailer for the sequel, but there is still a lot more to confirm the details.

As Rockstar Games and Take-Two Interactive, the former's parent company and the "Red Dead" series publisher, are still keeping the major information under wrap, the fans can nevertheless expect a more thrilling and action-packed installment. "Red Dead Redemption" has set the bar high for the franchise's future installments, and one would only expect that Rockstar will try to surpass their own standards.

At the recent MPK Partners event, Take-Two Interactive CEO Straus Zelnick promised that "Red Dead Redemption 2" will notable because of its "incredible emotional depth, a great story and great gameplay experience." As reported by iDigital Times, the "Red Dead Redemption" sequel will feature a lot of great stories and gameplay elements that will encaptivate the players.

"We took a different point of view, which is that very occasionally westerns capture the imagination of the public. When we launched 'Red Dead,' it did. And those times were right for that. And I think the times are right for a big, sprawling, optimistic view of America again, and that's not meant to be cute." Zelnick said via Game Spot.

Regarding the possible plotline of "Red Dead Redemption 2," it is speculated that the core of the story will involve revenge once again. As recapped by Game N Guide, the story of "Red Dead Redemption" closed with its main character, John Marsden, being killed by his enemies. This time around, John Marsden's son will take the spotlight and exact revenge against those responsible for his father's death.

"Red Dead Redemption 2" is scheduled to be released in Fall 2017. It will be playable on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One consoles.
