Samsung Galaxy S6 vs iPhone 6 Plus Specs Comparison: Features, Price Review - Galaxy S6 Smaller But Faster Than iPhone 6 Plus?

The Samsung Galaxy S6, left, versus the iPhone 6 Plus, right. | SAMSUNG/APPLE

The iPhone 6 Plus is Apple's first phablet and it is extremely popular in Asia where people favor bigger phones. However, it is destined to be knocked off its top spot by the recently released Samsung Galaxy S6 which is faster and has better specs.

Design

Samsung has long used plastic in its flagship smartphone, but with the Galaxy S6 it decided to use a metal frame. Added to this is the Gorilla 4 Glass on the phone's front and back which gives the device a premium look and feel. Coming to the iPhone 6 Plus, it is bigger than its sibling, the iPhone 6, but otherwise they are alike in their premium appearance. However, given that the iPhone 6 Plus is a phablet, the smooth aluminum on its front and back panel makes it difficult to hold even though it has rounded edges.

Display

Comparing the display on the devices, the iPhone 6 Plus has a big advantage in terms of size as it has a IPS LCD screen measuring 5.5 inches with a resolution of 1080 x 1920 pixels and a density of 401 pixels per inch. The Galaxy S6 is smaller in size but its display is better when it comes to quality. It's super AMOLED screen measures 5.1 inches and has a resolution of 1440 x 2560 pixels and a density of 577 pixels per inch.

Specs

The specs of the iPhone 6 Plus appear dated compared to those of the recently released Galaxy S6 which has an Exynos 7420 chipset, a CPU with four Cortex-A53 cores clocked at 1.5 GHz and four Cortex-A57 cores clocked at 2.1 GHz and a Mali-T760 GPU. As for the iPhone 6 Plus, it has an Apple A8 chipset, a dual-core 1.4 GHz Cyclone CPU and a PowerVR GX6450 GPU.

Memory

Samsung decided not to include a memory slot on the Galaxy S6 and so in this aspect it is similar to the iPhone 6 Plus. Coming to RAM, the iPhone 6 Plus has 1 GB while the Galaxy S6 has 3 GB.

Price

The iPhone 6 Plus is priced at $299 with a two-year contract and $749 without one, while the Galaxy S6 could be priced at $699.
