Sony Xperia Z3 vs Nexus 6 Review: Comparison of Specs, Design - Size Does Matter

Sony Xperia Z3 and the Nexus 6 are both great flagship phones which drew stellar reviews after they were released.

In comparing the two phones, it is clear that the Nexus 6 is a true phablet while the Xperia Z3 has a ways to go before it can compete with its bigger rival.

At the heart of this particular comparison is the size issue. The Nexus 6 is 6.27 inches tall compared to the Sony Xperia Z3 which comes in at 5.75 inches. This size difference means that the Nexus 6 has a bigger 6-inch AMOLED display while the Xperia Z3 has a 5.2 IPS LCD display.

Comparing the quality of their displays, there is a marked difference as the Nexus 6 has a resolution of 1440 x 2560 pixels while the Xperia Z3 has a resolution of 1080 x 1920 pixels. This means that the Nexus 6 has a better pixel density of 493 pixels per inch while the Xperia Z3 has 424 pixels per inch.

In terms of specs, the Nexus 6 has the Snapdragon 805 APQ8084 chip from Qualcomm coupled with a Quad core, Krait 450 processor clocked at 2.7 MHz and an Adreno 420 GPU. Compared to this, the Xperia Z3 has a Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 8974-AC chip coupled with a Quad core, Krait 400 processor clocked at 2.5 MHz and an Adreno 330 GPU.

However, when comparing cameras, the Xperia Z3 handily beats the Nexus 6 as it has 20.7 megapixel rear camera while its competitor has a 13 megapixel rear camera.

As for on board storage, the Nexus 6 ships with either 32 or 64 GB and has no memory slot while the Xperia Z3 is available only in a 16 GB version but has a microSD slot which can be used to expand its external memory up to 128 GB.

Comparing their price, the 32 GB Nexus 6 is available on Amazon.com at $900, while the Xperia Z3 is priced at $590 on the same site.
