As promised, Capcom has revealed the new DLC character of their video game, "Street Fighter 5."
Capcom has recently released a DLC character reveal trailer, announcing the addition of Kolin in the fighting game's roster. In the background of this trailer, a new song by Lupe Fiasco titled "It's Not Design" could also be heard.
Kolin's first appearance in the entire "Street Fighter" game franchise was back in 1997 when "Street Fighter III: New Generation" was released. In this game, she would show up in the pre-battle intro for the final boss, Gill, as well as in Dudley's ending. In this version, she was merely Gill's assistant, and she played no major role in the game's storyline.
Based on the character description provided by Capcom in a blog post published on their official website, it looks like Kolin's role in "Street Fighter 5" is more significant and more expansive than ever before.
"Kolin works behind the scenes in order to fulfill the Prophecy of Miraha and stop any who dare stand in Gill's way," Capcom's description of her character reads. "She is typically calm and collected, but can suddenly fly into a rage when anybody threatens Gill and his plans. Spoiler-alert, she resurrects Nash and uses him as a pawn too, showing she will do anything to achieve her goals," the description went on to say.
Kolin's main ability is the power of ice, which allows her to fight by producing "deadly icicles" and "frigid blasts." In addition to her powers, she is also a skilled practitioner of the Russian martial art Systema, the main principle of which is the use of an opponent's momentum against them.
"She is often heard speaking condescendingly towards her opponents, knowing they don't stand a chance before her, let alone Gill," Capcom said.
Kolin as a DLC character of "Street Fighter 5" will be available on Feb. 28. She is the second DLC character to be released from the second season of the fighting game, following Akuma. Apart from them, four more characters are expected to be added throughout 2017.
