Rookie action-adventure series "Supergirl" was on the verge of cancellation due to a dip in ratings performance halfway through its first season, but the show's recent move to The CW opened a lot of doors for the Girl of Steel. Aside from an upcoming season set to premiere in the Fall, the series will also have an epic crossover with The CW's other superhero series including "Arrow," "The Flash" and "Legends of Tomorrow" expected to be out in December.

Season 2 will definitely see new faces once it hits the small screen, and one of them is none other than Kara's cousin Superman. He appeared in a lot of episodes back in season 1, but his face was never shown. It has been recently confirmed that casting is currently underway for the Man of Steel's portrayer, and the fans surely had a lot of suggestions. "Smallville" star Tom Wellings is one of the actors rumored to be on the shortlist, but he was quick to dismiss the speculations. "There are people who would like it, there are people who [wouldn't] like it," Wellings told BuzzFeed. "But I will tell you that no one has ever actually asked me to do it. So I don't know. It would be kind of odd. I don't know who he is at that point. He would obviously be Superman."

Aside from Superman, Lex Luthor's younger sister Lena will join the cast as a series regular. As noted by TV Line, she is characterized as a 25- to 35-year-old woman who is intelligent, sexy and "determined to get what she wants." Her reason for moving to the town was to "get out from under the shadow of her infamous brother." Nick Farrow is also another series regular who will make a mark in Kara's life. He is described as a "brash leading man" who will not get along well with Kara while they work in CatCo. As a popular news reporter's son, Nick is "looking to make a name for himself in the news world but the question of whether he can leave behind his former selfish and hedonistic ways will constantly arise. In hanging out with Kara, the hero in Nick might finally come out."

Who will play the role of Superman? Find out when "Supergirl" season 2 premieres this Fall on The CW.
