"Supernatural" season 12 premieres this Thursday with a focus on newly-resurrected Mary Winchester and the search for a kidnapped Sam.

Season 11 ended with Sam (Jared Padalecki) and Dean's (Jensen Ackles) mom, Mary (Samantha Smith), being brought back to life after thirty years of being dead. Amara (Emily Swallow) extended the gesture as a "thank you" to Dean, but the much-awaited family reunion will have to take a backseat since there's a bigger problem looming.

It will be recalled that the British chapter of the Men of Letters, led by Lady Toni Bevell (Elizabeth Blackmore), kidnapped Sam in an effort to stop the hunting activities of the brothers. Hence, Sam's rescue mission will be the centerpiece of the show's twelfth season, with Dean, Mary, and Castiel (Misha Collins) teaming up to search for him.

In line with this, Collins recently teased what's in store for his character, the angel Castiel, in the upcoming installment of "Supernatural." In the past seasons, Cas became a vessel for Lucifer. Now, though, Lucifer has chosen a new vessel, and Cas is back to being his old, badass angel self. No longer demure and emotional this season, he's ready to go down and play dirty, as he reveals in this interview shown below.

"He is angry that he dropped the ball with Lucifer. He feels like he made another bad choice and he's coming out swinging at the beginning of Season 12," Collins describes Castiel's frame of mind heading into season 12.

"He's going after Lucifer, hunting him down and getting him," the actor adds.

Cas will hunt down Lucifer, who is now inhabiting the body of a rockstar (played by Rick Springfield). He will be joining forces with the King of Hell, Crowley (Mark Sheppard), as they try to get rid of Lucifer once and for all. He will also have some sort of connection with Mary, what with them both having lived in heaven and getting thrust into the complicated world of humans.

Meanwhile, Variety reports that showrunner Bob Singer said the writers of "Supernatural" season 12 are focusing on writing "old fashioned horror stories" for the incoming installment, seeing as how season 11 set the bar high. That means the brothers' mom, Mary, will be rejoining the family hunting business and showing just how the Winchester matriarch does so with flair.

"Supernatural" Season 12 premieres on Thursday, Oct. 13 at 9 p.m. EDT on The CW.
