'Teen Wolf' season 6 spoilers, plot news: No love interest for Scott McCall in upcoming season? Alpha male better off single?

As the late fall or early 2017 premiere of "Teen Wolf" season 6 looms, more and more pieces of the puzzle seem to fall into place. For one, it has been confirmed that Dylan O'Brien, who suffered on-set injuries while filming "Maze Runner: The Death Cure," is still part of the supernatural series.

However, perhaps one of the most surprising spoilers for the upcoming season is that Scott McCall (Tyler Posey) might find himself minus a love life following Kira's departure.

It would be remembered that Scott's love life was thrown for a loop when Kira (Arden Cho) decided to train with the skinwalkers in the desert, without possibly returning to Beacon Hills. According to Zap2It, Scott and Kira's relationship was doomed from the get-go – Kira's an immortal, Scott isn't.

While a new girl could be injected in the storyline to mend Scott's broken heart, showrunner Jeff Davis said this period, Scott without a girlfriend, would be the best time for him to figure out who he is.

"When we realized that the show wasn't going to have Kira Yukimura this season, we wanted to ask ourselves, 'Does Scott always need to have romance in his life to be a compelling character?'" Davis told Entertainment Weekly.

As for Posey, he seems to be excited about the prospect of a single alpha male.

"It was something I've always been interested in because from the very first episode of 'Teen Wolf' he falls in love with Allison and then they break up and he immediately meets Kira so there wasn't really much single time for Scott," he said.

"I thought it was something that every person has to go through in their life, grow on their own and really figure out who they are. That's kind of what's going on with Scott."

In other news, Teen Wolf News said that the reason why MTV hasn't yet announced the official premiere date of "Teen Wolf" season 6 isn't because of the injuries O'Brien sustained. Apparently, MTV's parent company – VIACOM – is having a crisis with the family that's said to be the majority owners. In addition, some high-profile programming personalities in the network are said to have left the company.

TWN also said that the delay in picking a debut date might be hinging on MTV's plans to come up with a big scripted program soon.

If that's really the case, then it looks like "Teen Wolf" season 6 would premiere in late fall or early next year.
