For its last season, "Teen Wolf" is making sure that they do not leave any jarring loose ends when the show finally wraps up. This includes the long-running mystery of Stiles' (Dylan O'Brien) full name.
In an emotional installment, Sheriff Stilinski (Linden Ashby) pieced out his son's life together after finally snapping out of his selective amnesia. And in the process, he went on to narrate how in all the years of "Teen Wolf," Stiles' name was never mentioned. Apparently, Mieczyslaw Stilinski is a pretty mouthful, that even the young boy could not pronounce it prompting everyone to use an easier one.
In an exclusive conversation with Entertainment Weekly, show creator Jeff Davis talked a bit more on what the reason behind Stiles' very unusual name. He reveals that the decision to give him a different sounding name has in fact been in the cards for quite long already
"A few years ago, I knew I would have to actually reveal Stiles's name at some point," the showrunner recalled. "I was looking for a Polish name that was incredibly difficult to both spell and pronounce. Mieczyslaw sounded like 'mischief.' It seemed like a perfect word to describe Stiles. Both as a mischievous child and equally misbehaved adult."
Whether the name has some kind of significance in the overall story of Stiles and the rest of Scott's (Tyler Posey) pack remains to be seen. Many fans are speculating that there could be something hinged on the reveal given how specific the given name is.
Scott is already geared up to risk biting his best friend just to save him from the Ghost Rider rift that the latter is currently holed in. The question, however, is if Stiles will be on board with this given that he will be turned into a Beta.
Meanwhile, in tonight's episode titled "Memory Found", Scott, Lydia (Holland Roden) and Malia (Shelley Hennig) spin a ploy to remember Stiles. Elsewhere, Liam (Dylan Sprayberry) and Theo (Cody Christian) have their own shenanigans to worry about. Find out how their respective plans will pan out at 9 p.m. ET on MTV.
