After the much-awaited face-off between Yuri and Yurio at Rostelecom Cup has transpired in the previous eighth episode, "Yuri!!! On Ice" is set provide more challenges for Yuri as he is destined for an uphill feat, and this time around, it will be without Viktor.

According to News Everyday, the forthcoming ninth episode will feature Yuri Katsuki skating without his coach Viktor. The latest preview has revealed that Makkachin, Viktor's dog, will be diagnosed upon swallowing a whole lot of steamed buns, after which, Viktor will be approaching Yakov to coach Yuri. Meanwhile, Yakov will serve as Yuri's guide for one day.

The new tutelage from Yakov will prove to be quite a battle for Yuri as he will need to adjust to his new coach. On the other hand, Yurio will be taking advantage of this situation against Yuri as the former is more motivated to win the gold. As such, the past episode has revealed that Yurio was not able to find his Agape, ultimately resulting in technical errors with his jumps and routine. All of these are enough for him to get pumped up in their next competition.

Meanwhile, the forthcoming event is increasingly becoming one of Yuri's most critical days as he is pressured to rank fourth in order to qualify for the Grand Prix. Rumors have circulated that Yuri might be able to perfect his free program routine. After Yuri's performance, Viktor may come running after him with two of them hugging it out — purportedly one of the episode's highlights.

Moreover, the ninth episode will also feature Viktor to be finishing his business with his dog, flying back to Russia and will coach Yuri for the free program.

The Japanese sports anime television, "Yuri!!! On Ice," premiered its first episode Oct. 5, 2016. The series heavily concentrates on figure skating.
