Android 7.1 Developer Preview latest news: Google announces final update; here's how to enroll device to download preview

It was just last month when Google rolled out the Android 7.1 Nougat developer preview for Pixel C devices, Nexus 6P and Nexus 5X. Just recently, the search engine giant has released an update for its developer preview, adding Nexus 9 to the line of gadgets to receive the software.
Google announced that the Android 7.1 Nougat Developer Preview 2 will be the last update before the company releases Android 7.1.1 Nougat for public consumption. The second developer preview has the latest fix of issues and bugs, aside from UI and optimizations and near-final system behaviors.
"With [Android 7.1] Developer Preview 2, you can make sure your apps are ready for Android 7.1.1 and the consumers that will soon be running it on their devices," said Google to the developers. As highlighted in October, we're also expanding the range of devices that can receive this Developer Preview update to Nexus 5X, Nexus 6P, Nexus 9, and Pixel C."
Those who want to try what Android 7.1.1 Developer Preview 2 has in store for their device can visit Google's Android Beta Program and sign up. This was already announced by the company this year, wherein all beta testers will be able to receive the latest update over-the-air.
Google plans to roll out the Android 7.1.1 in the early days of December and promises support for devices like Pixel and Pixel XL. Android 7.1.1 Developer Preview 2 is the release candidate that the beta testers can use to prepare for the final launch.
Aside from the mentioned update inclusions, Android 7.1.1 Developer Preview includes application programming interfaces (APIs) and developer features that were already seen in the first preview. Those who have yet to explore the feature may want to check out the app shortcuts, image keyboard support, round icon resources, and others, to see what the latest update can do. Google has given a full list of developer features to make it convenient for all.
More of the update can be found on the Android Developers blogsite.
