Android N release date news 2016: Gets an official name from Google; launch expected within the year

Google has announced the official name for the Android N, and they are calling it the "Android Nougat."
A nougat is a piece of chewy candy with nuts and sugar, so users can expect the developers to consider the Android N as anything less than a sweet treat for its users.
According to reports, Android users can expect the final beta version of the software to arrive later this summer. Though there has been no announcement of an official release, Google had previously stated that it would be out in Q3 2016, so fans can probably expect the software to be available sometime in August or September.
The latest version of Android will be initially available for Nexus users, and owners of non-Nexus devices will also be able to get their hands on it at a later date.
The release date in August can also prove beneficial because it allows the developers time to test the software out and fix all the bugs before it gets released to the public.
In other Android Nougat news, 9to5Google has found a neat little easter egg in the software while they were assessing the features that it came with. They said that "on the Easter Egg screen, tapping the 'N' will cycle through a series of emoji. Additionally, the 'N' drops the purple-blue colors for a more faded beige that matches the color of nougat bars."
The Android N also offers some bug fixes for older software, and most notably a fix for a bug in the Quick Settings menu.
Android has been known for naming their updates after confectionary treats like Jelly Bean and KitKat, and Nougat is a name that is pretty much up that alley. It can only be a testimony to the "sweet" improvements that Android has for its users.
The Android N is expected to be released sometime in August or September.
