Apple Watch 2 rumors, updates: Wearable to be different from predecessor due to technology swap

Speculation has gone up that the next Apple Watch, dubbed the Apple Watch 2, will feature a new technology that will make the watch slimmer and give it a longer lasting battery life.
A report from DigiTimes states that Apple is switching out the OLED screen on the first Apple Watch for a Micro LED display on the next iteration. The publication quoted a source as saying, "Apple acquired US-based Micro LED developer LuxVue Technology in May 2014 and set up a laboratory in northern Taiwan specifically for R&D of new display technologies in April 2015."
According to Mirror, tech experts agree that OLED screens produce a better picture but LED can significantly save battery life, which the Apple Watch has been critiqued for having a low amount. LCD screens are also thinner compared to OLED ones, so people can expect the next Apple Watch to be thinner.
The Apple Watch has received a mixed reception when it first came out. Others complained that Apple's claim about the watch having "a whole day's worth" of battery life was bogus, and with constant use, the battery drains quickly. Users have also found it inconvenient to have to charge the watch on a daily basis. Other concerns include the fact that all the features of the watch are already available on a phone, and regular watches have a battery that can last for years. Not to mention, the watch is considerably expensive.
Meanwhile, in a report by MacWorld, Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo of KGI Securities said that Apple might not adapt a new design for the Apple Watch 2, and instead more focus will be put on internal components.
It is predicted that the launch of the Apple Watch 2 will be in September, alongside the next iPhone. This prediction, however, is based on analysis of Apple's hardware supply chain, which is famously known for being complex, so people should take this speculation with a pinch of salt.
Only time will tell when the next Apple Watch comes out, but Apple fans are hoping to see its launch within the year.
