'Avatar 2' release date, plot news: Quaritch returns in all 4 sequels as main antagonist?

It appears that Colonel Quaritch is not done wreaking havoc in the beautiful kingdom of Pandora. Actor Stephen Lang is set to reprise his menacing role in "Avatar 2."
Lang himself confirmed he will be back as Colonel Quaritch even though he apparently bit the dust by the end of the first film.
In an interview with Cinema Blend, he revealed that director James Cameron told him about his character's return as "Avatar" when the film was already "global phenomenon."
However, Lang recalled Cameron telling him about Quaritch's reappearance back when they were still filming the first movie, but he did not believe it because it was "speculative" at that time.
But it is now confirmed that Quaritch will be back in "Avatar 2." He is also set to appear in the upcoming sequels as the main antagonist of the series.
He elaborated more about this four-movie gig in another Cinema Blend interview where he spoke about why he will not likely get the part of Cable in "Deadpool 2" that he campaigned for online.
"I think it's highly unlikely that they would ever give me the part, for a number of reasons, one of which being that it's the same studio as Avatar," he said, adding that if he did get it, he will give his best.
"If they don't give me the part, then I can be magnanimous in defeat, compliment the actor who does get the part, and console myself with four sequels to Avatar," he stated.
Cameron is currently working on all four sequels for "Avatar 2." In a recent interview with Variety, he admitted that he his team "overwrote."
"Basically the first of the sequels cloned itself and became two films, so now it's four films," the filmmaker said, adding that the studio is happy about it.
Cameron chose to film all the movies together to keep track of the plot, which is why "Avatar 2" is slated for a 2018 release.
