"Daredevil" game news 2016: Footage of the cancelled open-world game revealed

Footage of the cancelled "Daredevil" game has made it to the internet, and fans can take a glimpse of the game that could have happened, had it not been for Marvel and Sony's rivalry back in 2004.
A video by DidYouKnowGaming? delves into the intricacies of what happened within the game's production, and what led to it getting shelved. According to the video, game developer 5000ft was in the process of creating an open-world "Daredevil" game. Titled "Daredevil: The Man Without Fear," players would take control of Matt Murdock and patrol around the city fighting criminals and swinging over buildings. The game would allow players the chance to meet iconic characters from the Marvel universe including Elektra, The Kingpin, and Bullseye. Cameo appearances from superheroes with their own franchises such as the Punisher and Black Widow would also be present.
The game was reaching development hell as the developers were caught in a tiff between Marvel and Sony, the latter making the most demands of the two. Wanting to bank on the popularity of the "Tony Hawk's Proskater" series, Sony requested that Daredevil be given the ability to "grind" on telephone lines, giving him a new range of movement. Marvel, on the other hand, was not happy with these changes, and wanted the game to be more reminiscent of the comic series. Among other issues, 5000ft could not meet with all the deadlines and had to shelf the game in 2004.
The game was being developed for the PlayStation 2, and would have been the first to present a mode where the players get to detect enemies via Daredevil's radar sense. Players can see this mode with the "Arkham Asylum" games referred to as "Detective Mode."
While the game was shelved, Daredevil has only increased in popularity over the years. With the hit Netflix series, fans can expect developers to give the Daredevil game one more go in the future.
