'Destiny 2' release date: Development of DLC back to square one? New DLC for 'Destiny' expected to come out September

\"Destiny 2\" will be \"rebooted\" while the original game just keeps getting better and better. | Bungie

"Destiny 2" is being "rebooted," according to sources that spoke to Kotaku. It is unclear what this means for the sequel, but it is said to be the result of Bungie president Harold Ryan stepping down last January.

The Taken King director Luke Smith has been appointed to helm the "Destiny" sequel, and as a result, it is reported that the development will start from the beginning again.

This implies that whatever that has been developed in "Destiny 2" when Ryan was the president will be scrapped and Smith will come in to do whatever he envisions for the game.

It's reportedly because of this that "Destiny 2" was delayed to early 2017 instead of holiday 2016, which was the original release schedule planned for the game.

With the fall slate empty, Bungie will release a DLC for "Destiny" as replacement. This expansion pack was recently leaked on Reddit and is reportedly called Rise of Iron.

This DLC is rumored to be released this September (on the 20th according to another Reddit leak) and will be officially unveiled at the upcoming Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) 2016.

Apart from the "Destiny" DLC, Bungie has been working on polishing the game and eliminating the bugs that hinder an otherwise immaculate gaming experience.

"We even fixed a Super exploit before it could become common knowledge," community manager David Dague wrote on the latest Destiny update on the game's website.

"Which subclass missed a chance to enjoy a reign of terror? The world may never know. The Guardians who tipped us off privately about this one are the real MVPs," he teased.

Despite this accomplishment, there is a new glitch in "Destiny" that could also use some fixing. This one involves the golden gun, which, when exploited, will give users the power to run it without end.

With regards to "Destiny 2," hopefully, Bungie has something to say about the game at the E3 as well.
