'Doctor Strange' TV Spot invites audiences to experience a new reality

A new 30-second TV spot for Marvel Studios' upcoming movie, "Doctor Strange," has been revealed, and though it didn't show new footage, it still gives fans a look at what kind of visuals they can expect from the movie.
The superhero movie hype was brought to another high with the release of DC's "Suicide Squad," and fans are now counting down the days till they can get their first look at the Sorcerer Supreme.
The movie is directed by Scott Derrickson who is known for horror movies like "Sinister" and "The Exorcism of Emily Rose." Fans might be scratching their heads with the decision to have a horror movie specialist as the director of the psychedelic trip that is "Doctor Strange," but based on Marvel Studios' track record, fans can trust that Marvel knows what it's doing.
Back in 2008, Marvel had Jon Favreau direct the movie that would set the tone for the Marvel Cinematic Universe: "Iron Man." At the time, Favreau only had "Elf" and "Zathura" on his track record (the former a Will Ferrell hit comedy, the latter a "Jumanji-in-space" flop). The decision, however, turned out to be a hit, and "Iron Man" is still considered to be one of the best Marvel movies to date.
James Gunn, the director of the 2014 surprise hit, "Guardians of the Galaxy," also had very little credit to show for the action sci-fi genre. Before he was directing stars like Chris Pratt and Zoe Saldana, he was making a horror-comedy film called "Slither" and writing movies like "Scooby-Doo."
Though some frequently raise their eyebrows in suspicion at Marvel's choice for directors, the studio has never failed to deliver and has been giving fans the superhero cinematic genre that audiences know and love today.
Derrickson may be a weird choice for now, but fans will just have to wait until Nov. 4 to decide whether "Doctor Strange" was a home run or a strikeout.
