'Doctor Who' spoilers, cast news: Peter Capaldi staying in the series after season 10

Fans would have to wait a while before "Doctor Who" returns to the small screen for season 10. But even before the show could run brand new episodes, reports about actor Peter Capaldi leaving his role as The Doctor after the 10th installment have surfaced all over.
Fans are now wondering if Capaldi will really exit the show and if a new star will take over the spot again. Showrunner and head writer Steven Moffat, who is set to leave his position in the series after season 10, clarified the rumors.
As detailed in a report by Entertainment Weekly, Moffat said that Capaldi will not be necessarily leaving with him. Many thought that Moffat and Capaldi will pull off the same thing that their predecessors did. Apparently, previous showrunner and screenwriter Russell T Davies left the series in 2010 with David Tennant who played the Tenth Doctor.
But Moffat will be exiting the show by himself, and he revealed that Capaldi is game to do more seasons.
"I have no reason to suppose that I'm writing out a Doctor," said in this month's issue of Doctor Who Magazine. "Peter is loving the role, and long may he do so," he added.
Capaldi also previously divulged in an interview that the BBC network asked him to continue portraying his role even after season 10. He was still undecided then and even said that it will take him some time before he could decide. Fortunately, it seems like Capaldi has chosen to continue exploring the universe in his TARDIS beyond season 10.
There will be apparent changes when the show returns next year for the new season. One is that Jenna Coleman who played one of the Doctor's companions, Clara, will no longer be part of the show. Replacing her spot is Pearl Mackie who will play a character named Bill.
"Doctor Who" season will premiere sometime in 2017, but the series' annual Christmas special will air this Christmas.
