Ansel Elgort, popularly known for his roles in the "Divergent" series and "The Fault in Our Stars," is in talks to play the lead for the "Dungeons & Dragons" movie.

Though still in talks, there have been no final decisions made to make Elgort the star of the film yet, and his fans can only wait for any further announcements. With Elgort's popularity with the young adult genre, one can expect that casting him may be a move for the studios to get more than just "Dungeons & Dragons" fans in the cinema when the movie comes out.

Started in 1974, "Dungeons & Dragons" has gained a massive cult following worldwide, and has opened new doors for the fantasy roleplaying genre. Its movie adaptation will reportedly be written by "The Conjuring 2" writer David Leslie Johnson, and is set to be directed by "Goosebumps" and "Monsters vs Aliens" helmer Rob Letterman.

Vin Diesel, action star for "The Fast and the Furious" franchise, is no stranger to "Dungeons & Dragons," and Deadline reports that Diesel has expressed interest in playing a part in the film. He is known to be an avid fan and has been playing the game for more than 20 years; he even wrote a foreword for a "Dungeons & Dragons" book back in 2004 ("30 Years of Adventure: A Celebration of Dungeons & Dragons").

With the "Warcraft" movie grossing more than $400 million in the box office, according to Box Office Mojo, the fantasy genre seems to have found a little more fire, and fans are all expecting to see what movies Hollywood has in store for them. The superhero movie genre seems to be oversaturated now (with at least three superhero movies in a year), so why not let the fantasy genre take a jab at box office gold?

The "Dungeons & Dragons" movie is still in very early stages of pre-production, and no production schedule has been planned as of now.
