'Final Fantasy XV' game release date news 2016: Prequel movie is a box-office hit; prequel game gets a trailer

"Final Fantasy XV" has a lot riding on it, with a movie and a prequel game released to prepare fans for the new world of the game.
The prequel movie, titled "Kingsglaive: Final Fantasy XV" has been released in Japan, and it is proving to be a smash hit, with over 105 million yen in ticket sales gained — that's the equivalent of $1 million, but those numbers are pretty decent on account that the movie was only released in 44 theaters in Japan.
According to reports, U.S. fans of the franchise will have to wait till Aug 19 to see the movie, and the American dub is said to have a star-studded cast, including Aaron Paul of "Breaking Bad." The movie will also take its time in introducing characters who will appear in the game, particularly Ravus Nox Fleuret and Iris Amicitia.
Ravus is a servant of the Niflheim empire, and he is the older sibling of Lunafreya. Iris is the younger sister of Gladioulus, who is a refugee who fled the Capital City when Nieflheim invaded it. She is the friend of "XV" protagonist, Noctis, and she lives in the city of Lestallum.
Aside from the movie, a trailer for the prequel game has been released, and it turns out to be an retro-themed side-scroller. The game is called "A King's Tale: Final Fantasy XV" and players will be taking control of Noctis' father, King Regis as he battles his way around the kingdom of Insomnia. In the game, Regis has friends Weskham, Cid, and Clarus, come along with him on an adventure.
"A King's Tale" is a Gamestop exclusive, and it will be released on Sept. 30, along with "Final Fantasy: XV." Fans can only wait until then, but in the meantime, they can catch the prequel movie when it comes out in the US Aug. 19.
