The "Game of Thrones" season 6 finale's stunning final moments beautifully set up the upcoming battle between Cersei (Lena Headey), who is currently sitting on the Iron Throne, and Daenerys (Emilia Clarke), who is sailing to Westeros with her dragons and her massive fleet to reclaim the seat.

But as exciting as the prospect of a Cersei vs. Dany showdown is, "Game of Thrones" fans have been left wondering how Cersei could possibly hope to defeat Dany, with her Unsullied, Dothraki, the combined forces of Highgarden and Dorne, and — of course — the dragons. As Dany approaches King's Landing, all Cersei has in terms of an army are the Lannister forces, the reanimated Gregor Clegane (Hafthór Júlíus Björnsson), and the wildfire she used to obliterate Baelor's Sept and all her enemies.

As things stand, Cersei appears hopelessly understaffed and underarmed in the face of Dany's undoubtedly superior man- and fire power.

Nonetheless, not all is lost for Cersei, as a new "Game of Thrones" fan theory suggests that the current Queen may resort to an arranged marriage between herself and a self-styled Westerosi king to beef up her forces.

According to Reddit user Sam_Stark, Cersei could wed Euron Greyjoy (Pilou Asbæk), who was last seen ordering his men to build him a fleet, to defeat Daenerys.

"So as far fetched as this might seem, I think it would make sense if Cersei allies herself with Euron Greyjoy through marriage," Sam_Stark wrote. "Euron has already made it abundantly clear that he wants to marry into the crown, and Dany has made it clear that she's going to back Yara's claim to the Iron Islands. Cersei needs more troops if she is ever going to have a hope of defeating Dany, and Euron is the only source left in Westeros with enough troops to make a difference."

While Cersei doesn't seem inclined to get married again, this theory makes sense given that Euron needs to come into the Westeros powerplay at some point and because there's really no one else Cersei can turn to, unless she is foolish enough to take on Dany with only the forces she already has.

Meanwhile, the wait for "Game of Thrones" season 7 could be longer than expected.

In a recent UFC podcast, showrunners David Benioff and D.B. Weiss said that the new season will start "a bit later" and that the weather is to blame.

According to the "Game of Thrones" bosses, season 7 is set in the dreaded Westerosi winter and thus they will have to wait until the weather turns colder so they can get the "grim, gray weather" the new season needs.

"Game of Thrones" season 7 debuts sometime in 2017.
