"Ghostbusters" star Melissa McCarthy has recently talked about the upcoming "Gilmore Girls" revival and the fact that the show got to give its ending a complete do-over. McCarthy, who herself has starred in all 153 episodes of the show as Sookie St. James, said that she will be returning for the show's revival, "Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life."

In a recent interview with E! News, the 45-year-old actress talked about how lucky she thinks "Gilmore Girls" creator Amy Sherman-Palladino is to have a chance to end the show the way she wanted.

"When else do you get a chance to do that? I mean, the odds are so ridiculous. You don't get to redo your ending like that," said McCarthy. "I think it's a great idea. I think it's the right time to do it and I think people are going to be really happy with it."

On a separate note, McCarthy's current success in movies like "Spy" and "Ghostbusters" had almost cost her the chance to return to the show. Sherman-Palladino said that McCarthy was too busy to return for "A Year in the Life," but McCarthy herself stated that she was simply never asked. With a lot of series revivals on Netflix like "Arrested Development" and "Full House," plenty of fans will be pleased to see original cast members return to Stars Hollow.

McCarthy has gone a long way since starring in "Gilmore Girls." She has even received the Gilda Radner Award for Innovation in Comedy at Gilda's Club in New York City's Gildafest 2016. She also has enough star power to headline her own movies. Audiences just love a woman who is proud of who she is, and not to mention, over-the-top funny.

McCarthy joins all the original "GG" cast members as they return in "Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life" on Netflix later this year.
